Mixamo Animation
Maya Integration
Masking outside of computer

Made AISS materials for the objects and used Mixamo for the animation.
added a static pane to act as a mask for the inside of the computer instead of trying to mask the outside.
Projected a texture from the camera onto the plane but I need to stick it to the plane so when it moves the texture sticks

Improved Materials
Improved Geometry
Constructed Set
Character rig Complete

The free computer and character were barely useable as is. The character did not have a rig and had many corners cut and the computer had a different material for every piece and every single piece was unnamed and ungrouped. I grouped all the similar pieces and parented the motherboard pieces to the motherboard, and then to the case itself. I rigged the character myself and used automatic weights which aren’t great but I will make changes where necessary as trying to get symmetrical weight paints was the death of me.

Tracking oddities
Character rig

I found myself quite annoyed dealing with my tracking data. I will probably have to reshoot and retrack as the error values are wayyy off where my lower error value tracks are compoletely off and the high error value tracks are spot on. Maybe im confused on how they work but I’m not sure. I started putting my model into maya and blender but without a good track, trying to model may be hard. I took some photos of the sides so maybe I can model anyways but I think it would be more beneficial to take precise measurements of slopes and distances.
I began using axis’s in my scene and even those threw me for a loop. Its hard to tell the edges of the bevels even with the axis’s and I found myself more confused than before with the odd tracking data.

The character did not come with a rig and is not well made because of overlapping verts. An easy fix and I have riggigng experience from free time for something rought. I added bones and automatic weighted them. Needs weight painting and some vert merging.

Tracking Tests

I’m not too pleased with my tracking as it doesn’t seem to line up. I made several attempts to track but it never felt correct. I wonder if it has to do with not having enough detail on the desk or not and I found it really hard to get details of my phone’s camera sensor and other data.
I do notice that I have many floating points in my final track but I’m not sure how to alleviate them.
I do have a high error of 2.06 but this is the best track I have gotten so far and I worried about making it worse.

Ideation
Photogrammatry attempts

Working title: render failure
I would like to do a computer in monty that is rendering and when it opens up there is a hamster on a wheel sleeping.
I am unsure if i want the hamster to be animated or not. Ideas being sleeping with a bubble coming out of his nose with a slight rise and fall of the chest or running on the wheel.

I found a cartoonish model on cgtrader. Not sure if its exactly what I want but its hard to find a good model of a hamster that is also free

At first I thought I’d be able to fill in the gaps or be able to get enough of my computer to be viable but I think I massively over complicated it wanting to do something out of my comfort zone. Several crevices were hard to get grammatry of and it didn’t seem to be a “fan” of the fans. They were mostly out of view but instead of closing up the gaps it instead made holes in the geometry.
After this failed attempt I looked up a desktop pc and immediately found results for something easier that I will go with on CGTrader.
