Mug Match to Live Action

Matched a photo of a mug to a fake mug rendered in Maya, modelled in Blender, textured in Substance Painter, and composited in Nuke

Although a simple project I was able to bring together many programs I had learned in a small scale item. A problem I had to learn here was beveling edges to get the right kind of light and then using bloom to composite a light on an edge to simulate the bloom of any real camera. Even in a small amount of light you can still see a small amount of bloom in a reflection.

I was very happy with the mug and the materials and textures I used to make it. Getting reference for the D graphic was made from eye as I didn’t want to rely on photos directly for a graphic I could make myself. I used Photoshop to create a vector of the D logo in order to have infinite resolution and control.
